SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On 09/24/22 at approximately 0809 hours, Troopers responded to a three-car crash on VT Route 116 N, south of the intersection with Drake Woods Road in the Town of Bristol. Investigation revealed OP#3 was traveling south and used a pull-off to make a proper U-turn. At that time, OP#1 was not paying attention to the road while traveling north. As a result, by the time OP#1 saw OP#3, there was not a reasonable distance to stop.

In order to avoid a collision with OP#3, OP#1 swerved into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with OP#2, who was traveling south. Neither speed nor impairment were contributing factors in this crash, and no injuries resulted. OP#1 was issued a VCVC for a violation of 23 VSA 1039, “Following too closely.”
