SUMMARY OF CRASH:
On 06/07/2022 at approximately 7:06 pm, a member of the Vermont State Police and members of the Hartford Fire Department responded to Interstate 91 in the Town of Hartland for a reported medical emergency. At approximately 7:24 hours, VSP dispatch was notified that the responding ambulance had been involved in a collision on I91 in Hartland.
Investigation revealed that a Hartford Fire Department ambulance, being operated by Fire Fighter Peter McMillan, had traveled southbound on I91 to a U-Turn in the area of mile maker 66/80. The ambulance entered the U-Turn and continued through, crossing into the northbound lanes, as it began to drive northbound. When the ambulance entered the northbound lanes, it crossed into the path of travel of a Toyota Tacoma being driven by Mr. Chase Lord. Mr. Lord attempted to avoid colliding with the ambulance by stopping. Mr. Lord’s Tacoma impacted the rear of the ambulance causing minor damage to both vehicles. No injuries were sustained in this crash, and both vehicles were drivable. The ambulance was able to continue to the medical emergency and subsequently transported a patient to DHMC for treatment.
