SUMMARY OF CRASH:
On 08/07/2021 at approximately 1127 hours, Troopers with the Vermont State Police – St Albans Barracks were dispatched to the area of Boston Post Rd and Tyler Branch Rd in the town of Enosburgh for a reported two-vehicle head on crash with injuries. Members of Enosburgh Fire Department and Enosburgh Rescue responded to the scene, as well. Investigation revealed that De La Cruz (22 of Franklin) was traveling north when he became distracted, took his eyes off the roadway, and subsequently swerved into oncoming traffic. After crossing the center line of the roadway, De La Cruz drove head on into West (52 of Bakersfield), who was traveling south on the roadway. Both operators were transported to Northwest Medical Center for their injuries. West had two other occupants within his vehicle, one of which was transported for potential neck/back/head injuries. All parties involved are expected to recover. Crossing the centerline of the roadway is a violation of 23 VSA 1038, Driving On Roadways Laned For Traffic, which bears a 2 point infraction and a $220 fine. De La Cruz will be issued a ticket for the infraction.
