Sometimes it can take the Vermont State Police time before they can sort out fault in a car accident with death resulting. In the crash noted below the officer did not attribute fault although the report seems to imply operator number one was at fault. The family of a victim of a wrongful death accident has a claim for damages under Vermont law. It is a complicated process and requires the opening of a probate estate. SUMMARY OF CRASH:
On 10/24/2020 at approximately 1646 hours, the Vermont State Police received a report of a two vehicle, motor vehicle crash with injuries on Little Chicago Rd. in the Town of Ferrisburgh.
Troopers identified the operator of Vehicle #1 as Mu Kwarta Bu (37) of Utica, NY. Passenger #1 of Vehicle #1 was identified as Htun Htun Win (28) of Utica, NY. Passenger #2 of Vehicle #1 was identified as Ta Nah Htoo (57) of Utica, NY. Passenger #3 of Vehicle #1 was identified as Law Blat (35) of Utica, NY. The operator of Vehicle #2 was identified as Robin Jones (60) of Middlesex, VT.
Investigation into this motor vehicle crash has revealed Bu (OP#1) was traveling south bound on Hawkins Rd. in the Town of Ferrisburgh. OP#1 continued south bound into the intersection with Little Chicago Rd., entering the east bound lane where he collided with V#2.
Vehicle #1 and Vehicle #2 both came to rest in a ditch located next to the east bound lane of Little Chicago Rd.
Jones was transported to UVM Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
This motor vehicle crash is currently still under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed this motor vehicle crash is encouraged to contact Trooper Ovchinnikoff at the New Haven Barracks.
Troopers were assisted on scene by members of the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad and Ferrisburgh Fire Department.
