Can Multiple Injured People Recover Money from One Insurance Policy in a Two Car Crash?
In the Vermont State Police Blog Summary noted below it appears one driver is solely at fault. Both the passenger in his truck as well as the people in the other vehicle were injured. All injured people can make a claim against the negligent driver’s insurance policy. If there isn’t sufficient coverage for all claims the adjuster for the insurance company will settle the claims on a pro rata basis. This can be complicated and injured people should consult with an attorney before settling their case. There are instances where an injured person can receive money from their own insurance company pursuant to their underinsured motorist coverage which is mandatory in Vermont.
