If I am riding my bike and am hit by a car who then leaves the scene of the accident can I still pursue a personal injury claim?
Presuming you also own a car there might be coverage for payment of the medical bills under the medical payments section of your policy. There are differences in the language of different insurance policies. For example Geico would cover a pedestrian injured in the facts as described below but would not cover a cyclist. Other insurance policies would include a cyclist. And maybe you have an umbrella policy which might provide coverage.
The best thing to do is to call David Polow at [nap_phone id=”LOCAL-REGULAR-NUMBER-1″] for a free consultation about your car, bike, motorcycle or pedestrian injury claim. It may be necessary for me to review your insurance policy before I can advise you on whether or not there is an insurance coverage. Do not believe what an insurance agent or adjuster tells you about coverage. I have had clients who were told by an insurance agent and an adjuster that he did not have insurance coverage. I asked for a copy of the declaration page and the policy and was able to determine there was in fact coverage and was able to change the adjuster’s mind about coverage. The call to me is free so why not find out about your rights regarding your car accident claim?
