SUMMARY OF CRASH:
On 07/30/2020 at approximately 0609 hours, Troopers with the Vermont State Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash involving a passenger car and a tractor trailer unit. The crash occurred on Interstate 89 north at miler marker 23 in the town of Royalton, VT. The operator of vehicle 1 was identified as Parker Royer who sustained non-life threating injuries. The operator of vehicle 2 was identified as Thomas William who sustained no injuries. Investigation revealed Vehicle 1 was traveling north on I89 with cruise control engaged. Vehicle 1 struck the trailer of Vehicle 2. Vehicle 1 traveled off the roadway and rolled until stopping on its roof. At the time of the crash the roadway was clear and dry. Speed and distracted driving were contributing factors. Vehicle 1 was totaled, and Royer was transported to Gifford Medical Center to be evaluated.
The Vermont State Police were assisted by Bethel Fire Department and White River Valley Ambulance.
