SUMMARY OF CRASH:
On 05/05/20 at approximately 2245 hours, Troopers from the Vermont State Police were detailed to the area of Ethan Allen Highway (USHY # 7) and Town Hill Road for a reported traffic crash involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival to the area it was learned that a pedestrian, later identified as Marcin Kosz (40) of Athol, NY, had been struck by a northbound vehicle operated by Arthur Derosia (54) of Swanton, VT.
Preliminary investigation indicated Derosia was traveling northbound at a rate of approximately 50 miles per hour; the posted speed limit. Derosia struck Kosz in the northbound lane of travel. Kosz was pronounced deceased at the scene.
It does not appear that speed, alcohol or drug impairment was a factor in this crash. This crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this crash should contact the Vermont State Police, New Haven Barracks. An update will be released at a later date as new information is gathered.
