SUMMARY OF CRASH:
On October 16, 2022 at 16:45 hours, Troopers from the Vermont State Police – Williston Barracks responded to a single motor vehicle crash with injuries located on I-89 Northbound near mile marker 94, in the Town of Colchester. Upon arrival, Troopers located the vehicle at a position of uncontrolled rest on its side off the left side of the roadway. Investigation revealed the operator, William Smith, was traveling Northbound on I-89 prior to the crash. Smith stated they were headed home when he experienced a medical event, became unconscious, and went off the roadway. There were no signs of impairment. As a result of the crash, Both Smith and his passenger King sustained injuries and were transported to University of Vermont Medical Center. Due to disabling damage to the vehicle, Elite Auto and Truck Service assisted with removing the vehicle from the scene.
Troopers were assisted by both Essex and Colchester Fire Department.
