SUMMARY OF CRASH:
On the above time and date, Vermont State Police received a report of a two car motor vehicle crash on I-91 northbound at MM37, in the town of Rockingham, Windham County, Vermont. While Troopers were en route to the crash, Officer Doucette of Manchester Vermont Police Department stopped to provide lights. Shortly after, Officer Doucette advised his cruiser had been hit by another vehicle. Investigation to the incident revealed Vehicle #1 was traveling northbound when it lost control on the wet and slush covered roadway, entered the median, and rolled over several times. Crista Carty suffered minor injuries and was transported to Springfield Hospital. Vehicle #2 slide into the median upon coming to the initial crash scene prior to Officer Doucette’s arrival. Officer Doucette then arrived, activating his blue emergency lights and placed down flares leading to his cruiser that was parked in the left lane of travel. Vehicle #4 was traveling in the left lane and failed to slow down and move over, striking the rear passenger side of the cruiser. No injuries were reported from the secondary crash. Interstate 91 N was closed for a short period of time as a result of the crash.
Morgan was issued three Vermont Civil Violation Complaints for violation of Title 23 V.S.A sections 1221 (Defective equipment), 1050(b) (Failing to move over for emergency vehicles), and 1081(a) (Unreasonable and imprudent speeds with accident resulting). This crash is still under investigation. Vermont State Police were assisted by Manchester Police Department, Golden Cross Ambulance, Bellows Falls Police Department, and Rockingham Fire Department.
