SUMMARY OF CRASH:
On January 14, 2022 at approximately 2055 hours, State Police were notified of a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 89 South of Exit 17, in Colchester, Vermont. Further information was provided that a TT Unit was off the roadway.
Upon arrival investigation revealed that Operator #1 (De Los) was traveling Interstate-89 Northbound with his TT unit. Operator #2 (Slowminski) was traveling Northbound on I-89 when his van overheated. Slowminski moved into the breakdown lane and called for roadside assistance.
He sat in the breakdown lane for approximately 10 minutes before getting hit. Operator #1 (De Los) lost control of the TT unit due to poor wind conditions. A witness stated seeing Operator #1 attempt to regain control of the TT unit before crashing into Operator #2 (Slowminski).
Operator #1 (De Los) struck the rear of Operator #2 (Slowminsk) with the front right portion of the TT unit. The roadway was windy and below freezing temperatures.
VSP was assisted by Colchester Fire Department and Chittenden County Sheriff’s Department.
This crash remains under investigation, if anyone witnessed the crash you are encouraged to call the state police and use the case number as reference.
