SUMMARY OF CRASH:
On 08/03/2021 at approximately 1626 hours, the Vermont State Police St. Johnsbury responded to a two vehicle motor vehicle crash at 1545 US Route 302 in Newbury, Vermont. Operator 1 was identified as Richard Brooks of Groton, Vermont. Operator 2 was identified as Maggie Potwin, of New Hampshire. The investigation determined that Brooks was traveling West on Route 302 in Newbury, where he failed to maintain his lane and traveled into the oncoming traffic. Potwin attempted to swerve around Brooks unsuccessfully, before the collision.
Both vehicles sustained severe front end damage, and were towed. Brooks and Potwin were transported to the Cottage Hospital for evaluation and suffered minor injures as a result of the crash.
